Ready for even more creative fun? Volume 2 of my Pattern Play Printable Cards brings you another set of 48 hand-drawn, black-and-white pattern designs—perfect for collaborative painting projects of all kinds.
These cards are designed to spark creativity during the Messy Playing, Exploring, and Bling! stages of your Pattern Play process. Whether you’re new to Pattern Play or already love Volume 1, this second set works beautifully on its own or alongside the original for extra variety.
Simply print them in black and white, laminate if you wish, and either cut them into strips of three patterns, pairs or use them as individual cards. Keep them handy between sessions by storing them in a ziplock bag, or clip them together with a ring or bulldog clip for easy access.
Each pattern started as a hand-drawn or painted design, carefully created to be asymmetrical, inclusive, and easy for all ages and abilities to copy. I’ve digitised them in crisp black and white for clear visibility.
Every card includes a simple name to encourage playful learning and creative prompts. You might say, “Let’s add some waves—big or small, in a row, around a shape, or in a cluster!” Some patterns are great for layering or clustering, while others are perfect for borders and edges. You can change their size, overlap them, or explore with colour—there’s no wrong way to use them!
These are the same patterns I’ve used to help create hundreds of collaborative artworks alongside more than 2,000 people across South Australia—now you can enjoy them too, with your group!
